After you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook, you receive the following error message when you start the program:
Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. Microsoft CRM requires cookies to use the Web client. To enable cookies, see the online Help for your browser.
After you click OK, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred loading Microsoft CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
• The domain name, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server name, or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server name contains an invalid character. An example of an invalid character is the underscore character.
• You apply security update MS01-055. For more information about security update MS01-055, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 312461 <http://vkbexternal/vkbwebservice/ViewContent.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;312461&PortalId=1>MS01-055: Internet Explorer cookie data can be exposed or altered through script injection
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Use the IP address on the client computer
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To use the IP address instead of the domain server name, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server name, or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server name on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook computer, follow these steps:
1. Log on to Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook.
2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient
4. Right-click WebAppUrl, and then click Modify.
5. In the Value data box, type the valid IP address of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server or of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server, and then click OK. A valid IP address of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server or of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server may resemble the following IP address: http://192.169.1.1:5555
6. If the PlatformRoot subkey exists, right-click the PlatformRoot subkey, and then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type the valid IP address of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server, and then click OK. For example, a valid IP address of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server may resemble the following IP address: http://192.169.1.1:5555/MSCRMServices
8. Right-click the ServerUrl subkey, and then click Modify.
10. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Method 2: Rename the domain name, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server name, or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server name
